How can I make sure all my files are syncing locally on my computer, before moving my drive?

How can I be sure that all files and none excluded are on my PC in their entirety?

I don't want the files to be stored only online because I have enough space on the hard drive.
If I have to move the drive where I don't have a Dropbox account I want to make sure I can find the files without having to retrieve them from the cloud.

I also want to be sure that all the folders are replicated on the PC.

When installing I always specify that files and folders should reside on the PC. Also in preferences the option "Available Offline" is selected.
Nevertheless, some folders have a "cloud" icon and others have a checkmark on a white background instead of green.
Having thousands of folders, I cannot scroll through them all to verify the situation.

Also in preferences there is "You have chosen to hide some folders," but then in edit I see them all selected with check mark on black box.

I have version 203.3.4812 with a Dropbox Plus account.

Thank you in advance.

Hey GioSomma, thanks for your post and hope you’re doing great.

First of all, can you clarify what type of drive it is that you’re referring to? What drive is your Dropbox folder saved on at the moment and where would you move it later on, for example? Just so that I can provide the info you need.

To make sure all of your files/folders are available offline, you can right click on your local Dropbox folder directly and select the “Make available offline” option. Do you still see cloud icons next to your files/folders after that?

Finally, I want a screenshot of the "You have chosen to hide some folders” message you see in the app preferences.

Let me know when you’re ready.

    In Windows 11, Path U:\MyCloud\GS-Org\Dropbox

For example the folder 0-Utenti (Cloud) and the folder ChiaviSSH (checkmark on a white background instead of green).

Hey GioSomma - thanks for the screenshot.

From what you mentioned, it seems that you're running a  beta version of the Dropbox desktop app.

Could you check if the issue persists on the latest, stable version?

Just make sure to toggle off the early releases from your account's settings first.

Strange. I surely installed it by downloading it from the official portal.
Where can I find the version of what is installed?

GioSomma, before switching to the stable app version, can you also right click on the two folders that have a different syncing icon and let me know if the “Make available offline” option appears now?

You can also see more info on each syncing icon here.

Other than that, please note that the last screenshot you sent with the list of folders being selected under your Sync tab concerns another Dropbox feature called “selective sync”, which is different to making your files online-only/available offline.

Finally, the U drive you mentioned in your previous message, is it an external drive perhaps? Have you moved the entire Dropbox folder there?

The U disk is a second internal disk of the PC. All files are marked at the root as "Offline". The icon identifies that there are no "online only" files.

My concern is that the files are thousands and I can't control the hundreds of folders.

At this point I just have to trust that everything is working well.

    Thank you.
