How can I share folders above 5GB?
a friend sends me a request to share files for his drop box account, which has been working really well until this week, the files are never larger than 5GB and have been sharing fine, but this week now it states i can only share files up to 2GB how do i change this back to how it was ???

If your friend has a Basic, Plus or Family account, then they can request files up to 2GB in size. They can request (and receive) more than 2GB of data, but the limit per upload is 2GB.

Are you a member of a shared folder that your friend invited you to? If so, you're still limited to the amount of space available in your own account, even if your friend's account has more space. See this help article for more information. Basically, if you only have a 2GB account, you wouldn't be able to put more than 2GB of data into the shared folder.
If that's not how you're sharing files, let us know the exact steps you're taking so we have a better idea of the process you're following.

Hi juicyandlucy, thanks for messaging the Community.
As Rich suggested, it's possible you could be a member of a shared folder, which doesn't provide you with extra quota.
Could you let us know how exactly you're sharing files with your friend?
This will help me to assist further!

he sends me a request and when i open it, it says he has sent me a request to upload files so i upload them, once uploaded it shows me a running figure going over the finish line and it works all fine
we started doing this becuz the other way just did not work, it kept getting confused looking at my drop box with no space so this is why we changed it to a request instead and its worked for ages, no problems at all

If you're using file requests to upload files to them, and you're getting this message, it's possible that they don't have enough quota on their own Dropbox account.
Could you check with them to see how much quota they have on this page?
