How do I leave a shared Dropbox folder?
My friend invited me to share a 3gb folder she had. I accepted. Now I want to leave the folder and cant. I followed the advice from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZoTpNkvPCI
The problem is that...
- 7 years agoHey Padidto5,To remove yourself from the shared folder while youâre a member, try doing so from the website:
- Sign in to the website.
- Click Files.
- Navigate to the shared folder you want to permanently remove from your Dropbox account.
- Select the Share button that should appear next to the folder when you hover over it.
- Find your name under the list of emails.
- Click on the Can view/Can edit thatâs next to your name.
- Select Remove my access.
If youâre not seeing this option or youâre still having trouble with this, let me know.

At first, please note that any files you delete from the shared folder will be removed for every other member as well.
If you don't want to have access to the shared folder, you can remove yourself by following the steps outlined here.
If you're having trouble with this though, please let me know at which point exactly you're getting stuck and I'd be more than happy to help look into it.
Keep me posted!

I'm having the same problem.
I try to remove this folder, but since it's not from the first page of all files - it's a "sub-folder", it doesn't show any option described above. Only my name and no option to click on it. I read it could be the use of Safari, also tried in Google Chrome. So basically I'm stuck in this situation, since I have no space for having new files.
But there is a whole folder with 7GB that I don't use and could "remove" without deleting for the others. How can I do it?

Hi there Daniel Mendes, thanks for nudging us on this thread.
At first, if you want to keep a copy of the folder without it taking up space on your Dropbox account, you can save it locally to your computer by downloading it.
Also, whether a folder is at the top of the hierarchy or is a subfolder, you should still be able to remove it by following these steps.
If you're not able to, could you send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of the options you get when you click on the ellipsis?
Let me know what you find, thanks!
