- 7 years agoHey Padidto5,To remove yourself from the shared folder while youâre a member, try doing so from the website:
- Sign in to the website.
- Click Files.
- Navigate to the shared folder you want to permanently remove from your Dropbox account.
- Select the Share button that should appear next to the folder when you hover over it.
- Find your name under the list of emails.
- Click on the Can view/Can edit thatâs next to your name.
- Select Remove my access.
If youâre not seeing this option or youâre still having trouble with this, let me know.

Stepping on this solved thread but very similar to my issue except I want to remove my acces to some of the folders in a share not all. Basically I volunteer with a few non profit entities and one has a share folder of 10G, I only need like two of the folders in that and Dropbox is beind dumb and bothering me to upgrade my account because of being over storage limit. Its only those other files that I dont use or want BUT I cannot remove my access to single folders inside the drive and can only remove the entire share.

Hey rafikijade, thanks for nudging us on this thread!
Currently, there's no option that allows you to remove yourself from individual subfolders of a shared folder.
However, you can ask the user who shared the folder to:
- Share the subfolders instead of the whole folder. In this case, they'll have to usnhare the already exisitng shared (parent) folder first.
- Send you a shared link to the subfolders. That way, you'll still able to preview the content and it won't take up space in your account.
I hope this helps, but let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
