- 7 years agoHey Padidto5,To remove yourself from the shared folder while youâre a member, try doing so from the website:
- Sign in to the website.
- Click Files.
- Navigate to the shared folder you want to permanently remove from your Dropbox account.
- Select the Share button that should appear next to the folder when you hover over it.
- Find your name under the list of emails.
- Click on the Can view/Can edit thatâs next to your name.
- Select Remove my access.
If youâre not seeing this option or youâre still having trouble with this, let me know.

3 years agoHey Amanda! I checked your screenshots, but when looking at the one from your desktop app, itâs not really clear whatâs the small red syncing icon next to this folder. Is it possible to send one more thatâs a bit zoomed in?
Also, can you clarify whatâs the current syncing status of your Dropbox app? You can see this by hovering over the small Dropbox icon in your menu bar (close to your clock settings at the top).

Hi Nancy,
It's a small red x. This is what's causing the problem. Dropbox has been trying to update and sync the files, but it would not finish because it had an error message for this specific folder. The laptop had been whirring really loudly for 3 days while I was waiting for it to finish and the only option I had was to pause it because I use it for work and can't have that noise with clients. So I tried to remove myself and hence finding this issue.
The status is "syncing Fire Circle Sister Docs" and has been on that since I started this. I'm now about a week into being stuck and unable to get my dropbox updated.
