I don't see the "Manage backup" option to disable the computer backup, what can I do?
I cannot turn off desktop sync. I have read your instructions:
To turn off computer backup:
Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac).
Click your profile pict...

6 years agoHey Ajwa1, thanks for joining us on this thread.
The Dropbox folder is like any other folder, so you can move the files like you would with any other item on your computer.
If you want to have some peace of mind though, you can copy them from the Dropbox folder, paste them elsewhere, and then delete them from your Dropbox folder.
Give me a nudge to let me know of any updates, cheers!

Hello, Thank you for your reply.
It took some time but I managed to move the unneeded files out of my dropbox folder. I'm not entirely sure what I did exactly, as I did a lot of moving around and undoing, but eventually got it to work. It looks like Dropbox no longer syncs new files, and even the green syncing symbol went away. Also, I checked on the dropbox website, the desktop app, and my phone, and it looks like storage has been cleared up. Thank you for your help.

So I have a personal dropbox that I use at home, and I business dropbox my company uses at work.
On the back ups tab in preferences at home (personal account) there is a "This PC" Section that has the option to Set Up back up.
I don't use this feature at home, but wanted to implement it at work on the business acount. It isn't there. At work, the only three sections showing are "Camera Upload" "Devices" "Screenshots." Is that feature not available to business subscribers? That wouldn't make any sense to me. - Lusil6 years ago

Well that seems silly that it isn't available for business subscribers. Is there a specific reason behind that?
In the admin console, it looks like there use to be a setting to allow users to create computer back ups that isn't there anymore. The camera roll setting is still there though. Is that something that might change in the future?

Same issue: Every time when I plug an external drive I get this option by DropBox to backup the files. I DO NOT WANT TO DO THIS !!! Although I selected many times "Don't ask me again" this "offer" comes again and again, every time when I plug an external drive. (I made a stupid mistake many months ago to accept an offer without knowing what exactly does, and now there is no way to get rid of it!!). FRUSTRATTTTTIIINNNGGGG !!!!
I read on the internet to go to Settings / Backups / Manage backups/ and turn backups off. I can go to Settings / Backups / Manage Backup but ... there is no place where to turn them off. I only have choices for "Add a backup" or "Folders" BUT NO controls of backups (ON or OFF). What can be done ????
A very desperate DropBox "hater" 😞 - sightshooton4 years agoExplorer | Level 3
I've followed the steps in the troubleshooting guide included in that first article (moving the Dropbox folder to the right location, adding permissions, turning off iCloud etc.). But I've still not got a 'Manage Backup' option. teatv download

Hey goprea, sorry to see you're having trouble with this.
In the backups tab in the application preferences, there should be a "show setup notifications when new external drives are plugged in" setting. Is that checked?
If not, please uncheck it, to see if that helps.
As for you, sightshooton, did you previously perhaps uninstall Dropbox from your computer, without disabling the backup feature first?
Can you try to manage your backups from this page?
