Issue with synchronization
Hello,
I've had a new computer for a few months so I installed Dropbox on this new computer but since then my files haven't synchronized properly. I always have over 1,000 files to be synced. I have tried a few things after reading some forums but it is still not working (I don't remember what I tried to do, it was a couple of months ago). I also have One Drive that I use for work so there might be a conflict but I didn't have this issue on my previous computer.
Should I reinstall my Dropbox? I shouldn't lose anything, right?
Many thanks in advance,
Laure
Hi Megan,
In the end I uninstalled Dropbox completely and installed it from scratch and everything has now synchronized đ
Thank you all for your help,
Laure

Hi Laure Jd, and thanks for posting on the forum!
As a start, can you let me know whatâs the app version of your Dropbox app?
Also, is there any chance that your desktop appâs trying to sync a large amount of files, in general? Its performance may be affected if youâre trying to sync more than 300k files.
Keep me posted.

Hi Nancy,
Many thanks for your reply.
I downloaded Dropbox from the website, but I don't have the app. I hope it helps.
I don't think there are too many files, and I had never had this issue before. I don't think it should be an issue.
Best,
Laure

Sorry to jump in here, Laure Jd!
You mentioned that you installed Dropbox, but that you don't have the app? Did you uninstall it from your computer?
If not, the app should still be installed, and it might still be trying to sync your files.
Do you see a small Dropbox icon in your system tray/menu bar?
If you do, can you please hover your mouse over it, to see the sync status and version of the app?

Hi @Hannah,
Oh ok, sorry, yes I still have Dropbox.
I can see "Dropbox 155.4.5495", "Indexing 1,447 files".
Many thanks,
Laure

Hey Laure Jd, there's a new version of the app that has been released.
Can you do a quick re-install, please? Also, do you see the number decrease at all?

Hi Megan,
I downloaded the version you suggested (quick re-install) but I still have 1,334 files syncing...
Thanks,
Laure
