MacOS stuck on "Couldn't load folders"

On a newish MacOS install I'm regularly getting a "Couldn't load folders" error when trying to choose new folders to sync with selective sync. I was able to get the list of folders to load once and successfully synced several folders, so I don't believe it's a firewall or permissions issue completely blocking access.

    Could you let me know what version of Mac OS you're running on your device, as well as the version of the Dropbox desktop application?

     

    Are you connected to a stable network?

    Hi Jay, the OS version is 12.3, the Dropbox version is 146.4.4836. It also seems that syncing files is getting hung up for long periods of time. This is via a wired network in a corporate office and a home network.

    As it's a company network, is there a possibility that a proxy, VPN, firewall, security software, or even ISP/router settings could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

    Possibly, but I've had it working without issue on PC on the same network for years.

    Do you have 2FA configured? If so, disable it, close the app, reopen it and then try selective sync again. It should work. If it does, re-enable 2FA and you should still be able to selective sync.

    Maybe the 2FA thing correlated with the problem you were having, but wasn't actually causative? Because disabling 2FA didn't change anything for me, even after a reboot. In my case, sync is chugging along just fine, which makes me doubt there's a firewall thing going on, as some suggested here.
