No pop-up notification that I've added duplicates of a photo to Dropbox on iOS
Same here. On my iphone when I select several pictures and choose save to Dropbox, it would tell me if there was a duplicate. In the last day or so, it stopped giving me that warning and instead plac...

Hi Clayton King,
Generally uploading a single or batch file will automatically rename the file if it is a duplicate, this aligns with in-app behavior for files with the same name.
When uploading from a 3rd party app, we attempt to detect duplicates, but may fall back on the default behavior if duplicates were not detected at the time of upload.
I hope this helps.

9 months agoHey Clayton King, thanks for your post.
Since the thread you replied to was pretty old, I moved your post to a thread of its own.
Can you please let me know which iOS version and which Dropbox version you're using?
A couple of screenshots of this behavior would also be really helpful, if you could send us some.
Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the Dropbox app in the meantime?
Thanks.

Thanks, Hannah. I'm not sure how to send a screenshot of something that doesn't happen. My iphone 16 Pro max is running iOS 18.3.2
The Dropbox app is version 416.2.2.
Up until the last couple of days, when I uploaded an image from my phone, Dropbox would look at the target folder and alert me that the file already existed, and give me the option to ignore or overwrite. That's no longer happening and, instead a duplicate copy of the file with a (x) suffix is being uploaded. So unnecessary space is being taken up with duplicate files.

Hi Clayton King, just for clarification, are you uploading files manually via the Dropbox mobile app?
Are you choosing the option to 'Create or upload files', or to 'Upload photos or videos' when uploading to your account?
A screenshot showing the option you're choosing would help out.

From the Photos app, I select photos. Then using the share button I choose Save to Dropbox. I select the folder on DB I want to use.
