Re: Error 500 when trying open shared links
Up until yesterday my videos played just fine. Whenever I want to watch Videos I have on Dropbox, I get this error and can't watch/download them:
"Something went wrong. Don`t worry, your files are still safe and the Dropbox team has been notified. Check out our Status Page to see if there is a known incident, our Help center and forums for help, or head back to home."
I need that working for my work! What now? How do I contact the support? I am a paying customer.
Thanks!

Same here, clicking on video files in a folder opens the file but then quickly turns to an error.

Hi there originalemanuel & Anglo Team - thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Is this affecting all of your video files or just some?
Could you please clear your browser's cache or try another browser, preferably with no extensions or plugins running and let us know if you still get the same results?
Thanks!

Hi Walter,
this happens to all videos. And up until 2 days ago, they were all still working fine.
It does seem to work with Edge, but not with Chrome & Firefox. And Firefox is my main browser I use for work.
The browsers are all updated and I am on Win11, just in case that is important.
Clearing the cache did not work and even uninstalling and reinstalling the browsers did also not help. Problem is still there

Does the issue persist on a private browsing window as well originalemanuel?

It's happening on Chrome and Safari on a mac for me, also getting reports of the errors from people i've sent the links to. (sending this from my private account so my whole company don't get notifications about this)

In Private/Incognito Mode of the browsers the Videos work fine

It could be caused by a plugin or an extension then originalemanuel - have you tried disabling them one by one to see which one is the culprit?
As for you Anglo Team, could you clarify if you're getting the same results on an incognito window as well? There was an issue affecting the website yesterday, so these reports might be related to that.

Hi Walter,
yes I tried that, same result.
It works now in Chrome and Edge after deleting the cookies (cache clearing did not suffice), but Firefox is still broken.
In Firefox what happens is:
- I clear all Browser Data and disable all extensions
- I load the Link with the video: it works fine
- I accept all cookies, reload the page: it works fine
- I login with my credentials, reload the page: I get the error

Hey originalemanuel, since it works with Chrome and Edge, it must be something to do with Firefox.
If you login to your Dropbox account to view the link, then you get the error, right?
If you use a different browser to save the video to your Dropbox, are you able to preview it as normal through Firefox?

Hi Hannah
Yes, it only happens in Firefox after logging in.
I do not understand the 2nd Question. I did not save the video from a browser to Dropbox, I do that with the Windows App.

Hi, there are currently at least two threads about this error ongoing. To repeat what I've said on the other one, I am having this exact same problem with mp4 and mov files on Safari and Chrome. Have emptied cache, deleted history etc etc and used private/incognito in both but I still cannot access any of these files for more than a split second, even files uploaded today, so seems it has nothing to do with the website issue yesterday.

Hey originalemanuel and jaydoubleyoo we did have an incident today with viewing links, which was specific to previewing .mp4 video files, but it appears to be resolved; is that what you see on your end?

HannahHey, it works now for me on all browsers! Incognito, not incognito, logged in, not logged in. Works all fine now!
