Re: Error: "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content."

Yesterday, I realized that my shared links weren't working. I contacted support at 11 am to find out why. They said they would have to escalate it to someone else on their team. I did more digging on my own and figured out what I think is the problem.

A few days ago, Google marked my domain as a "dangerous site" because I have a subdomain that goes to ThriveCart so that members can login to their training vault. Because ThriveCart asked for a username and password to log in, Google thought I was trying to collect my students' personal information. I appealed that with Google, and they removed the "dangerous site" designation from my URL.

I believe this has caused the problem with Dropbox because I am emailing people the links from the impacted domain (through an email service provider).

At 3 pm, I added that information with a screenshot of an email from Google saying they had removed the designation to the support request. I have yet to hear anything from Dropbox.

I am beyond frustrated at this point. I use this account for my business, and people are emailing me to let me know about the issue. That reflects poorly on the reputation of my business.

Companies that have customers who own online businesses should have support available on the weekend--especially when that company had revenue of $2.5 billion in 2023.

But regardless of that, my ticket was submitted 6 hours before the end of the day on Friday, and as far as I can tell, no one has even looked at it.

If anyone knows of a way that I can get someone to correct this today, I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Support doesn't work on the weekends. If you have a ticket submitted, no one will be looking at it until Monday. Reply here with your ticket number and a Dropboxer may be able to check on the status when they return on Monday.

Is there a message being displayed in place of the expected content? Or have you received some other notice about the links being banned?

Doubtful. If you're just copying and emailing the link yourself, instead of sending it through Dropbox, they would have no insight into how you're sending it or through which provider.

Thank you for your response, Rich! I appreciate it.

    My ticket number is 24331458.

The message I got when trying to create sharing links was "We've interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content." The reference to phishing was what made me think it was related to the domain issue caused by Google.

I agree with you--I couldn't figure out how Dropbox would have known about the domain issue, but it seems like it might be related.

Those files are pdfs that contain images and links to Canva templates--nothing that could be used for phishing.

Again, thanks for replying! I appreciate your time.
