Re: I get the message that my files might contain phishing content
Hello,
Several hours ago I have generated a new link for one of my uploaded files, everything went smooth after I documented myself on the new links structure, however shortly after that I've tried accessing the shared links and I've got nothing but a 404 error. The member area is not really helpful at all in this case because clicking Copy Link on any of my current files gives me the download link as usual, however as soon as I tested uploading a .gif image and generate its download link I got the following error: Can’t share file We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because you tried to share a file that may contain malware. Check your email for instructions on how to resolve this.
That's basically the reason all of my current shared links result in a 404 page error. I have received no email about this whatsoever and all the files have been uploaded several years ago, all of them are definitely clean, open source and not containing any malware whatsoever. I would appreciate it if someone could take a look at my issue, wish I get some more information on what file could trigger that or at least limit the issue to that file alone and not for all my current shared links that I had to replace because of that. Again, I never had this error before today when I simply regenerated one of the links, mainly because I thought I needed to do that to get a direct preview/download.

Just an update, the error seems to be gone now, the same way it popped up initially and both the old and new structure links work. Hopefully these false-positive random errors won't be an issue anymore.

Megan / Nancy: I'm having the same issue:
Previously shared folders are broken: "That didn't work for some reason. If it's a fluke, it might work if you refresh the page." with a sad dog.
Trying to create a new Sharing link gives: "Can't Share file. We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing content."
Can I get a followup?
- Mx07z2 years agoExplorer | Level 3& for how long are files active? Recommend other playlist sites that are not spotify nor amazon? Im trying to get something like dropbox or bandcamp to work since not many work as playlists in background or the sort of .html profiles. Advice would be great to know about, also liked the past styles of Grooveshark.com & Playlist.com

After nearly a week I seem to be having the same error message again and I have no idea why, nothing new has been uploaded whatsoever and again this issue popped up over the weekend which is not so convenient.
"Can’t share file We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because you tried to share a file that may contain malware. Check your email for instructions on how to resolve this."Any chance someone could look at this so I could try figure out what the issue is? Most likely one of the uploaded files is triggering a false-positive, but the question is why now, why after several years of not having any issues or errors. Thank you in advance.

Hey GSBox, I hope you're doing well!
Were you able to locate the email instructions that are automatically sent when this happens?
You should have received some next-steps in order for you to resolve that.
Keep me posted!

Hey Mx07z, welcome to our Community!
It's possible that you're experiencing this behavior on your account.
Have you recently shared and files or links that could be a breach of the Terms of Service? Did you receive any relevant emails from Dropbox, on how to proceed?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Unfortunately, there is no email with any instructions being sent Megan. I've seen other members reporting the same situation, where the supposed email is not being delivered, so we are kinda left in the dark. I would love to see something similar to MF where if there's an issue with one of the files then only that particular file is being tagged and not the whole account. Would appreciate it if you could take a look at the situation, I am using the same email address that is attached to my dropbox community account.

Hey GSBox, I just sent you an email, in order for us to have a closer look into this.
I'll see you there!

Hey Megan, haven't received anything so far in my Gmail except the email notifications from this thread.

Hi @Megan,
I'm getting the same behavior "We’ve interrupted your sharing activity because your files might contain phishing/spam content”. The only suggestion on the banned-links page you referenced (https://help.dropbox.com/share/banned-links) says "If you’re seeing this message, contact Dropbox support." Unfortunately, that page doesn't give any options for Basic users.
I too have received no email from Dropbox suggesting which files might be triggering this alert. If I had some idea of where to look, I'd be happy to investigate further.

Hey RossComer - would it be OK if I reached out via email to have a further look internally?
As for you GSBox - did you check your spam/junk folder as well in case Megan's email ended up there somehow?
- GSBox2 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Sure did, Walter and there's no email in the spam/junk folder either.

Since Megan has already sent you an email, I'd suggest waiting for her to get back to you so you can continue through your existing ticket RossComer
Let us know if you have anything else to add or ask in the meantime.

Hello Dropbox Supporters
We have the exact same problem. Can't share anything and don't get any emails about why suddenly all of our files should have malware in it now, even newly downloaded files.
So can you take a look at it asap, so I can share files again?
It's also a pain, that as a user for over 10 years, I can't open a ticket anymore, just because I don't pay for this bad service.
Read you soon!
