Sending a link to a video without allowing editing
I want to share a video link with a non-dropbox member. When I send the link the recepient has the ability to edit the video. How do I send the video without allowing changes?

Hey AllanZola, welcome to our Community!
If you follow the steps mentioned here under "How to create and share a Dropbox link with view-only access" you should be able to give them view-only permissions, which wouldn't allow them to edit the content.
Is this how you shared the video link in the first place?
Let me know more!

The default setting for linksharing in the app ( android) is to let the recipient edit.
As a business user I don't want third parties to be able to edit when sharing documentation to them.
Is there a way to set the default to view-only again?
I don't want me or colleagues to make mistakes.
Thanks!

Hi Andrew_VM,
You can always do it in your account' sharing settings. Select "Can view" there instead of "Can edit". May be useful to select "Anyone with link" too if not selected already.
Good luck.

Hi Здравко ,
Sadly that setting doesnt propagate to the mobile app:
Bewerken = editing
weergave = viewing
The app, when you want to share alway highlights the editing option. This has been the case for a few weeks now.

Opps...😯 It appears to get up something strange.
Andrew_VM You probably just flagged up a new bug in Dropbox. I tried opposite to get back to edit link (I set them long time ago to be view only), but it doesn't work for some reason (not only on mobile devices, but online view as well as on desktop application). 🤫 Let's see how long will take Dropbox to fix it.

Hi Andrew_VM, how are you today?
Can you clarify the version of the OS you're using, along with the version of the Dropbox app that you have installed on your mobile device?
Let me know more, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Andrew_VM, it seems like you're trying to share a folder and not a video directly. What happens if you click the lower option, which is the view-only link?
- AndrewvanMarle2 years agoExplorer | Level 4Hi Jay,
If i use the bottom option i make a link with only viewing capability.
But that isnt the point here:
The problem is that the edit option is selected by default. This leads to colleagues mistakenly sending the wrong type of link.
Im looking for a way to set the default choice to vliew-only.
Thanks! - Rogaa2 years agoHelpful | Level 7
Hi there,
You can click on this link to set up the Default Sharing Settings to "View Only"
