Store emails in Dropbox:

Dropbox now allows the storing of email attachments. But this function is not that useful unless the email contents, at least the subject and sender, can also be stored. I have lots of people send me photos and documents that do not have explanatory file names. Especially photos that has only a number as a file name. If Dropbox can automatically copy the message contents, even if just a limited amount of texts, or just sender's email or subject, to the comment  part of each attachment file, that would be tremendously useful.

Hi CP Chang, thanks for messaging the Community.

Could you clarify how Dropbox automatically saves email attachments? Regarding emails, since the Dropbox service doesn't link to an email inbox specifically, it wouldn't be able to store emails directly.

There may be some third party apps or services that can convert emails to a format that can be later stored on Dropbox.

Thank you. I was referring the Dropbox feature I just learned on saving attachments.

A special email address is assigned to a user once the user turn on this feature. The user can forward any email with attachments to this address, and the attachments (subject some limit) will automatically be saved in a Dropbox folder "Email Attachments".

This is a very useful feature in that I can forward all my incoming emails with attachments to this address, and all attachments will be saved in that special Dropbox folder.

However, if an attachment does not have an explanatory file name, it will be very difficult to search for it. Thus I hope Dropbox can allow either sender name and subject, or some texts from the email content, or both, to be saved with the attachment.

Jay I forgot to link my earlier reply to you, so here it is repeated in case you did not read the earlier one:
