Solved

The new files I add to the desktop app aren't syncing to my handheld device (with the mobile app).

I have dropbox app on computer and handheld, before when I dragged a file on computer to the dropbox app it would also show up in the dropbox app on the handheld. But not anymore, how come? Have I by mistake changed something in settings either on computer or on handheld?

Hmm, I see. Can you open your Finder once again, go to your Applications folder and restart the Dropbox app from there?

Let me know if you can see the Dropbox icon in your menu bar after that and sync your files.

Hey TvdM-62! Thanks for posting on our forum.

After dragging the file to the desktop app on your computer, can you see it on www.dropbox.com, as well?

As for your handheld device, can you clarify the syncing status and app version of your Dropbox app there?

Keep me in the loop for more updates.

    Hello Nancy,

No, dragging a file to the desktop app it did not appear in dropbox in internet. What I have done earlier today in order to have files appear in dropbox in internet and with that also in the app on my handheld. On my computer opened dropbox in internet than from within dropbox in internet selected files to upload, then once uploaded they also showed in the app on my handheld.

On my handheld I'm running version 428.2.2. Don't know where to find syncing status.

Looking for app version came accross something else, under 'account' 'connect a computer', there it says Quickly install the Dropbox desktop app. I don't know if this is the same as what I have now. What I have now, on my MacBook in Finder under Locations I have a folder called Dropbox with the Dropbox logo. In the past I simply copy-past a file into this folder, it than would appear in www.dropbox.com aswell as in Dropbox on my handheld.

Thanks for the additional info! It really helps.

So, from your description, it looks like there’s a syncing issue on the desktop app of your computer (the one you upload files from) and it doesn’t connect properly to our servers, in order to sync the files online and to the rest of your devices.

Can you let me know what’s the syncing status and app version you see on that computer?

As for your other device, it sounds like you’re seeing this option to install the desktop app (but you already have this on your computer, indeed).

    Hello Nancy,

App version on computer is 225.4.4896. I don't see the dropbox icon in my menu bar, hence don't know how to check the syncing status. But I see now when clicking on the dropbox folder in Finder, it tells me 'the application "Dropbox" could not be found'

Looks to me I have to delete it and reinstall ?

    Hi Nancy,

Yep, that has fixed it. The Dropbox icon is in the menu bar, and it has synchronised all files that I had dropped in the Dropbox folder in my finder. All looks good now.

    Thank you for your support.
