Unable to Sync Files after enabling, Dropbox Backup
I used Dropbox to sync my files across multiple devices. A couple of days ago, I got a prompt to backup my files through dropbox backup and I clicked "yes." It converted all of my synced files to be ...

I had this same issue. Messed up my sync on all my root folders that was syncing perfectly before. Its frustrating. I talked to customer support and all they could say is there is no way to revert back due to opting into the new Backups feature. Even if I tried to delete and reinstall Dropbox from scratch.

I don't want a dropbox backup. What I liked about how the sync was set up was that I could access all my files on my work computer, edit them, save new files, and then when I went back to my home computer all those changes were synced to my documents folder on my home computer. Dropbox received updates from any computer and pushed out updates to all computers. I don't need files that exist solely in the cloud and that only update from one computer.

1 year agoThanks for the info. It wouldn't be possible to do what you're asking with the Dropbox desktop application.
If it worked that way previously, then it would be due to an unsupported method.

I have this exact issue and have gotten this very poor response. The old sync method was the perfect solution but after pushing yes to the new backup everything went wrong and you can NOT reverse it or get the old sync back.
I did find this morning that the files are syncing inside the backup - which doesn't make any sense at all and I'm not sure if it will continue or not.
The old way of syncing was not an unsupported method - it worked for years!!!
