Website freezes, when I try to upload files
Hi All - I've created a folder on the dropbox website (not the app) and uploaded several folders. Now trying to upload a series of Jpegs and random doc files, etc. When I select the files, the whole webpage freezes and won't respond until I refresh. This behavior repeats each time.
Fair enough.

Hey psiboxer, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I'd suggest you try from a different browser, or from a private browsing window, to see if you get a different behavior.
If so, you can try clearing the cache of your browser, which should help.
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks - I actually found the upload started if I waited for about 2 minutes. But it's poor development. The site really should have a message or something that says it's preparing for the upload...

Hey psiboxer, sorry to jump in, but does the same behavior persist on other browsers too?
Also, how many files are you trying to upload in one go?

Walter Hannah - When I switch from Safari to Chrome, the page no longer freezes. However, I get a bunch of incompatibility errors on the file. I'm trying to upload a Photos Library from my Mac to Dropbox to save space. However, it seems Dropbox is pretty particular about what it's willing to store. When I say skip the incompatible files, it starts uploading ~7500 files instead of the one photo library. Granted, it's 16GB, but that's exactly why I need to put it in the cloud to save space.

Thanks for the additional information psiboxer - much appreciated.
I just wanted to mention that it's not really recommended to put your Photos Libraries to Dropbox. You can find more information about this here and here.
I hope this helps to some extent.

I have the same problem with browser/website freezing and becoming unresponsive. I have a larger picture archive on an external harddrive I am trying to upload to dropbox with approx. 450 GB and 37.000 files via the latest Chrome browser. But I have had no luck on this, so I am trying to figure out what the max size upload that the dropbox website/browser can handle in one go.

I found an entry saying that the max size is 375 GB at a time so I cut the folder in half and tried with 175 GB but same result. Website becomes unresponsive and does not upload any even after waiting 30 min.

Hey NilsRandrup - sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
If this persists after clearing your browser's cache and/or on another browser (preferably with no extensions or plugins running), I'd suggest doing it in smaller chunks.
In any case, please keep us posted!
