Why can't we still open shared links directly via the desktop app on macOS?

This used to be possible. Why is it no longer a feature? 2 years ago? Come on Dropbox! I love dropbox, it's such a great app but the functionality which used to be there and now is no longer makes our lives so difficult! We have to send screen grabs with the location of files to our colleagues, because the web link is pointless. Users need a link to with mac os or explorer integration. 😬😬

Hi mini_mo, thanks for posting on our forum today.

Shared links have always pointed to files on the Dropbox website, from what I remember. Could you clarify when was the last time you were able to use this feature and have shared links point to files on the desktop app directly?

If you haven’t already, please also check my reply to the thread you’ve linked here.

Let me know, if you need something else.

NancyI have been using Dropbox on and off for a long time, at least 10 years. It was definitely an integration in the infancy of the product certainly on the mac OS. I am almost convinced it was a feature in the early days. I have come back to using Dropbox over the last few years and this functionality has disappeared.

I would be keen for you to investigate with the development team when this was removed and why?

Hey mini_mo, let me also jump in here!

I'm not going to lie, I also don't personally recall our shared links working that way. In any case, we're always looking for new opportunities to improve.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, and I will do everything I can to ensure that your voice is heard.

If you need something else, please let me know and I will be more than happy to help every step of the way!
