Dropbox keeps saying that my account is full, even after removing content.
I only keep the 2GB plan so I regularly delete files after I don't need to share them via links. I have managed to keep my storage between about 1.7 and 1.9 GB regularly. If I get a message that says...

From what I see, there are some shared files taking up space on your account as well and those are putting you over your account's quota limit. Do you need to keep those in your account?
If not, you can delete them or remove your access to make up some space.

It's 420 megs, but the main storage is 1.7GB. Those shared files do not explain why I was fine a week ago and now I'm over every time I delete files

Is Dropbox installed on your desktop? If so it will stop syncing as soon as you are over quota - even if you have more files to sync inside the \Dropbox directory. Therefore when you 'make' space by deleting things it automatically fills with the unsync'd stuff.
