I'm being told that I'm out of space, but I'm just a member.

I host a podcast and my co-host uploads his audio tracks to his dropbox account. I was added to that account so I could download his tracks when they were ready but I'm being told inside the app that I'm WAY over on my storage and my account was suspended. I can't access the audio files now but it's not my account. It's theirs. How do I sort this out? I need those files.

You were likely added to a shared folder. You don't get added to their account or get access to files in their account. You get your own copy of the shared folder in your account, and that takes up space.

If you only need to be able to view or download the files, without impacting your own account, ask them to send you a view-only shared link to the folder.
