Make folder available offline on iOS

I have been waiting very patiently for the ability to make folders available offline in the iOS app. It seems Android users have this function already. It has been asked for so many times going back years and still no sign on iOS. Then I saw this post:

https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Space/Maximum-Size-for-an-offline-folder-on-iOS/m-p/197778

I have the latest Dropbox app on my Ipad Pro. I have Dropbox Pro, but I don't have this feature in my app.

I am actually considering switching to another Cloud storage because of the lack of Offline folders, but am now confused whether it is available or not?

    Hi there

I bring good news. Making folders available offline is now possible on iOS :)
  • OK solved. IPAD needed a restart to make this function visible.

I want to make a folder offline available.

I dont find this option, i only have
    - release (?) in german 'freigeben'

    - add

    - copy

    - move

    - folder options

Its the same in my iphone and ipad. I'm using the latest german version on both devices.

BTW: I'm able to make a file available...

    Please help, thanks

    Hey Bruno B.16

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

Please keep in mind that saving offline folders saving for viewing on a mobile device is an available feature to Dropbox Plus, Dropbox Business, and Dropbox Enterprise customers currently and have the following limitations:

    • The folder can't be saved for offline use if it contains more than 10,000 files or
    • The folder contains more than 10 GB.

You can reference this resource for more details. Does any of the above apply to your case?

Please let me know in your reply!

    Thanks,
    JaneA

    Hi,

Is there a work arround for the 10000 files limit for local storage sync?

    best regards,

Thank you both for your answers.

    The solution is:

"Please keep in mind that saving offline folders saving for viewing on a mobile device is an available feature to Dropbox Plus, Dropbox Business, and Dropbox Enterprise customers..."

I just have the normal Dropbox...

    Thanks again.

    Hello JaneA

Sorry new in forums like this if i make some mistake :)

Have the problem that there are more than 30'000 File in my folder "Handbooks".

Was very surprised and was going through the Handbooks and found one for a LG Smart TV that has more than 30'000 Files.

I have cleaned up my structures and i do not want to move this Folder to another place, but setting the root-folder

as offline available, the whole structure is marked as unsuccessful. Is there any way to exclude just this folder

    for the using offline ?

    Hey AEB

Thanks for getting in touch on the Dropbox Community!

Please keep in mind that, because of the offline folder limitations listed here, a folder can't be saved for offline use it contains more than 10,000 files.

The best way to keep your folders available offline would be to break them into smaller chunks and have each individual folder available.

Hope this is helps you resolve this issue!

    Warm regards,
    JaneA

    Hello JaneA

    Thanks for your answer.

Because this is just one HTML-Handbook i cannot break it into subfolders

without to make it unreadable, so i decided to not make it available offline.

But can you explain the limit of 10'000 more exactly.

Does this belong to the whole structure (including the content of subfolders)

or is it the limit of one layer (means it is the limit of entries in one folder, so i can

make a mainfolder containing 5 subfolders with each containing 10'000 files).

    Warm regards

    Albert
