Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned o...

Hi,
So it appears that there can be backups that don't show up in your backups page, but are actually still there taking up room. Dropbox support was able to identify it for me and send me a link that would get me to it directly. If you've initiated a backup of your PC that never finished you might have the same issue i did. If you go to the link posted below, and find there are directories there with stuff in them that might be the source of your issues. Once i removed them from dropbox online, my dropbox storage started was I actually had backed up an everything sorted itself. Hope this helps, if not escalating it with dropbox after the contact you will likely have them see a folder that you can't, which they can link you to directly.

HI dropbox team,
I was notified that I could not sync my computer data to dropbox. My storage capacity was filled.
I just bought a new iphone and did not take the time to decide which files and folders to save to my dropbox account.
I have now deselected the unnecessary ones to be auto saved by my iphone and deleted the unnecessary data currently stored in my dropbox account.
I am NOT interested in buying more storage space.
Please reset my account so i can stay on the free account.
I will NOT be buying more storage space.
Please take care of this asap as I am still bombarded by emails insisting I buy more storage space.
My account is under birth name [personal information removed per the Community's Guidelines]
thanks

Hi amberdeann
This is something you do yourself - just delete the files you do not want on Dropbox off the Dropbox website at www.dropbox.com/home
You have to do it yourself, nobody else can.
Note that if you are even 1kb over quota syncing will stop. So deleting 100,000 files wont matter if you are still over quota. Its all to do with size not quantity.

Also, check you've not accidentally activated Dropbox Backup: www.dropbox.com/backups.

Hi Mark,
I did enable dropbox backup a few days ago. I don't know how to de activate backup.
I keep ending up on the dropbox backup screen which says it last backed up today at 11:14 1-31-23.
How do I de activate backup?
