My account keeps saying it's full - but it isn't
Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned o...

Hi,
So it appears that there can be backups that don't show up in your backups page, but are actually still there taking up room. Dropbox support was able to identify it for me and send me a link that would get me to it directly. If you've initiated a backup of your PC that never finished you might have the same issue i did. If you go to the link posted below, and find there are directories there with stuff in them that might be the source of your issues. Once i removed them from dropbox online, my dropbox storage started was I actually had backed up an everything sorted itself. Hope this helps, if not escalating it with dropbox after the contact you will likely have them see a folder that you can't, which they can link you to directly.

Hi, guys.
Dropbox is telling me I've used 2.7GB of storage space. When I check the dropbox folder on my PC, I've only used 54 MB. All I want to do is store word documents. Nothing else. Now, I've had people add me to shared folders. And I've tried to remove myself from them. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. ("We couldn't remove you from this folder, try again later"). But it doesn't seem to affect the storage space.
I'm also pretty sure it took pictures from my phone. Which I did NOT want. I only want to back up word documents. I only want to back up things that I upload myself. I don't want any of this syncing crap. I did not ask it to do that. I've deleted the pictures from my dropbox. But it still says I'm using 2.7 gigabytes. I've been through every folder and I'm down to nothing but my word documents remaining on the website portal.
How do I find whatever's taking up all the space and delete it.

Hi RichPenney, thanks for posting here today!
Can you check your account's plan page, and let me know what it reports there, in regards to the available space in the account? Keep in mind that shared folders would take up space in the account.
Do you have any Backups enabled?
Let me know more!

Hey, Megan. Here's a screen shot of my plan page.
Here's what my PC shows me.
Now, the folders listed here are the only ones I can see in my dropbox
I can't find any other folders that might have larger files in them. And I've removed myself from shared folders wherever possible. (There were only two, one was empty anyway).
Every time it asks me to do a backup, I say no. But I have found photos from my phone on there. Maybe there's a setting I have to disable. I just want to back up my word docs.
Thanks for your help.
