Hi - I have a 6.3 GB basic account with less that 1.2 GB of data in it, but I keep getting notifications saying the account is full, and it isn't syncing. I've double checked my folders and cleaned o...

Hi,
So it appears that there can be backups that don't show up in your backups page, but are actually still there taking up room. Dropbox support was able to identify it for me and send me a link that would get me to it directly. If you've initiated a backup of your PC that never finished you might have the same issue i did. If you go to the link posted below, and find there are directories there with stuff in them that might be the source of your issues. Once i removed them from dropbox online, my dropbox storage started was I actually had backed up an everything sorted itself. Hope this helps, if not escalating it with dropbox after the contact you will likely have them see a folder that you can't, which they can link you to directly.

Some years back I was working for a sound editing company that, being composed of people from all around the world, syncronized all files using Dropbox. They had dropbox pro versions ofc and in order to access the files I had to work on, they invited me in theirs.
From that moment onward Dropbox has been HELL for me, I couldn't use it anymore even after I was removed from the project after we've finished it all. I deleted dropbox desktop, reinstalled, emptied all the files, no matter how I check I have no files on dropbox but still, it signal that I have 286GB of data and I cannot use the service.
Tons of emails, warnings and so on.. while the simple truth is: I never had data in my dropbox, I merely downloaded from someone else dropbox, even now that I re-downloaded dropbox desktop precisely to be sure it has no single file inside, I can't find any way to solve this issue and I'm really getting fed up with the constant notifications.
Please someone help >.>

Shared folders use up everybody's Dropbox - so if it was in your account it used your data.
You need to delete the files from www.dropbox.com/home AND / OR leave the Shares from www.dropbox.com/share
