Not enough storage and missing files after accidentally setting up Dropbox Backup
Hello!
I have a client that didn't realize he must've clicked for Dropbox to backup his files, despite having a free account with only 2 GB. Well he got a new computer, and his old drive was cloned to the new computer. Even with Dropbox signed in, the files aren't actually in Dropbox, despite opening programs on the old computer and the path showing something such as: "C:\Users\Owner\Dropbox\My PC (Owner-PC)\Desktop\Clients"
The files are accessible on the old computer, despite not showing in dropbox or on dropbox website, so where would I find them since there wasnt space to actually put them in dropbox?

Ah man, that sucks 😞 I can totally see why your client’s stressed. It’s super annoying when stuff you expect to be there just doesn’t show up.

I was able to resolve the problem by booting the new computer off of the old SSD. Despite the path of the files showing in Dropbox, they were not. Thankfully the old drive still functioned.

Hey ss911der, I hope it's okay for me to jump in here too.
Can you search the computer for a "My files in Dropbox" or "My files on my computer" folder and let me know what you find?

I want to say that it said something to the affect of 80 gb out of 2 gb is needed and that the storage plan needs to be upgraded… I did turn off backup and it stated the files would be stored on the computer only and would no longer be backed up, but then the files didn’t show up in their respective folders…
