Referral sent to a friend marks as inelegible
Hi
I sent a request to a friend for them to install Dropbox. They followed all the process steps and were awarded 259mb. On my account against their referral email, it is marked as ineligible.
This does not make any sense, they set up the account on a different computer. So why is this marked as ineligible? Can someone please look into this for.
My email is <<removed to avoid spam>>
Regards, Tahir
- Hey Ranim Al-shakifi, thanks for joining the discussion here and happy Monday!
I just wanted to mention that when the recipient is ineligible for the referral program, there are two possible reasons:
One is that the recipient has already registered an account with Dropbox with that email address, or that the recipient is attempting to register using the same computer as you.
If you feel this status is inaccurate double-check the email address of your recipient to try again.

I have the same issue. I referred to my sister to dropbox. She got a new laptop and I was helping her set up her laptop. The email was verified. And we downloaded the desktop to her new laptop (brand new out of box). And it was deem ineligible. We do stay in the same household and hence share a wifi.
Also disappointedly when I emailed dropbox support and was told I was being abusive and if I do such abusive acts my account which I had for a long time will be ban.
Can you help me?

Hi Langnn, does the referral you sent to the user appear on your Dropbox account on this page?
What is the current status of the referral?
A screenshot showing this with the date of the referral, without the email address, would be helpful.
This will help me to assist further!

Hi Walter,
Recently I invited a new Dropbox user, and she activated Dropbox, but my referral space didn’t show up.
Can you please help me?

yes, probably, because I showed him, how to sign up on his computer, he may be using my WIFI, but I thought he had his own data. So not sure.

Hey Sameera007!
A computer network is any system that connects two or more computers or devices to share data, resources, and services.
For instance, if you and your colleague all connect to the same network, using the same IP address, it'd essentially mark the referral as such.

thank you, what is a 'same network'?

Hi Sameera007, let's investigate further!
If a referral is showing as ineligible on the Dropbox site, then it should mean that the referral user attempted to activate the referral from the same network as yours. Could this be the case?
You can also check this section of Help Center for more info and this FAQ right here. Can you also confirm that they've tried these steps?
This will help me to assist further!
