I appear to have successfully reinstalled the app (uninstall failed and the date logged against the app in settings is Saturday's but there was no failed message for the reinstall). The db icon is now appearing in the start tray and my files have updated on the laptop, I shall keep the situation monitored and thank you very much for your help with this.

3 years agoHi David1953, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
What error are you getting? Is there a blue link with an error log when you click on it?
Any other info or screenshots would be helpful!
- David19533 years agoHelpful | Level 6Hi Jay, The app although pinned to start does not open. Neither will it open manually. However, it did open with start yesterday and synced. There is no sign of the app in the start tray today and it will not open manually. The updates I made earlier today from my iphone have not downloaded to the laptop. There are no error messages that I can see.

Can you try reinstalling the Dropbox desktop application using this link to see if it helps?

I have used your recommended link and reinstalled the app. When I try to run the app it simply opens File Explorer. I am using Windows 10 Home OS build 19045.3570
I had been using the app for the last couple years without any trouble. A few months ago, it started to randomly not run. I would specifically try to run as admin and after a few tries it would start to sync but the actual gui interface never appeared.
I have uninstalled and cleaned my register files and tried other various work arounds but I have been unsuccessful.

Hey swright4, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.
Could you try downloading the offline installer from this page and run it with any antivirus you might have running on your computer temporarily disabled?
Also, did you install the app with admin privileges in the first place?
