Apple Silicon (M1) Desktop Sync Compatibility
Please can you upgrade the Dropbox app so that it works natively on Apple Silicon Macs (M1) without Rosetta.
Rosetta is not an option as it annihilates the battery.
This may be a duplicate of the below idea however that started for ARM processors in general and you haven't looked at it in 6 years so starting an Apple specific idea in the hope you see it.
There are also lots of comments on this thread to help support the case for demand:
Hi all,
Native Apple silicon support is now fully available. All users with Apple silicon devices will receive the native version of Dropbox automatically. If you would like to update your device manually, you can do so by clicking on the latest Stable Build and downloading the Offline Installer (Apple Silicon) file. I don’t have my M1 Mac yet but I was astonished to find out that this is even a thing!
Make the app a native M1 app or I may be forced to look for alternatives. It’s that simple. It’s 2021. This should be a recompile at this point. If it’s not then that calls more of your tech into question. And that would be more astonishing (and disappointing)
thanks

As others have stated, lack of M1 support sacrifices battery usage considerably. I’m honestly considering not renewing my Dropbox service and moving to a solution that doesn’t hurt my machine as much. Why, when so many other providers have thought nothing of this, is Dropbox dragging its feet? You’re relying on passive support that users would take the initiative to come here, rather than understanding your user base and the expansion of Apple’s evolution to M1-based machines. To me, that shows your company to be short-sighted at best, and self-absorbed at worst. Quite frankly, I’m kind of over Dropbox. Google Drive has been making so many leaps and bounds in its desktop apps, and just works better, for a fraction of the cost. And it works natively on M1 machines.

Dropbox should listen to paid M1 users or some might consider alternative solutions with native M1 support

Dropbox will be abandoned by Apple silicon users if it fails to support if natively. Please use the 2-year transition period wisely.

We are a company with over 300 people who uses dropbox. wtf why does this need a vote... this is the future.

They're joking regarding that this actually "needs" support for consideration right ‽

All four of our family members use paid DropBox accounts and we are rapidly each replacing our multiple devices with new Apple Hardware with M1 and M1 Max chips.
We will be forced to move to a different Cloud provider if native support isn't coming soon. - LowSalt0084 years agoExplorer | Level 4
Absolutely needs to be Apple Silicon native. We will find a solution if DB doesn’t fix this.

I am a long-time Dropbox user and rely on it for nearly everything. It's simple, fast, and reliable--much more so than Google Drive and OneDrive. I'm stunned that there is any question about updating the software to support Apple's new chips given that they are retiring the Intel models.

Please do this. The Mac app has gone so far downhill in recent years, but the least you could do is add support for current and all future Macs.
