That feature has disappeared!
That feature has not disappeared. Double-clicking the Dropbox icon in the system tray (Windows) or menu bar (Mac) still opens the Dropbox folder. A single-click will open the Dropbox app.
If this isn't happening for you, download the latest release and uninstall/reinstall.

What a STUPID Change its made the app almost unusable.

It's true---it's almost unusable now. Can't drag a folder to Dropbox, just individual files. For someone like me, who manipulates a lot of complicated graphics archive, it's a nonstarter now.
