It has recently come to my attention that Dropbox has some problem with Windows 7.
For anyone who uses it, you're aware that it still functions better than most modern operating systems but for some reason Dropbox seems to believe that Windows 7 should stop being supported because it's "old". Clearly Dropbox doesn't really understand that software doesn't "decay" like a machine does, either that or they're being pressured by Microsoft's "depreciation policy".
Either way, this now creates a problem for Windows 7 users and this place is for creating solutions. Now the most obvious solutions is to simply continue supporting Windows 7 like so many other services do. But if that's too "difficult" then working to add the features and functions of the full version to the simplified version of the Dropbox desktop app is the next obvious option.

Hi Sin_Shadow_Fox,
I just wanted to address this issue again as I have confirmed with multiple teams internally on this issue on your behalf.
As of October 2025, Dropbox will no longer support the full desktop experience on the following operating systems:
- Windows 7, 8, 8.1
- macOS 10.13, 10.14, 10.15
Users running on the above operating systems will be transitioned to a simplified version of the Dropbox desktop app. This update is part of our ongoing efforts to optimize performance and security at Dropbox.
Unfortunately there are no plans to introduce Dark Mode for the simplified version of Dropbox.
I understand this is not the news you want to hear but these are simply the facts. I know you've been posting a lot about this issue over the last week and I appreciate your passion. That's why I investigated internally and confirmed that this will definitely not be implemented.

No, these are not "facts". Dropbox is phasing out a legitimate OS for some unknown reason (ignorance or Microsoft's "depreciation policy") and you are intentionally sabotaging me because you know that a wide swath of people are using windows 7 which would be proven by my idea getting traction. That's why you keep removing me from the ideas section.
Don't [...] on me and then tell me your doing me a favor and don't tell me this is because of "performance" or "security", especially when someone can easily do their own research and see there is no performance or security issues with windows 7.
