Dropbox App Will Not Sign In to Personal Dropbox
I have a business Dropbox account and have linked my personal account. When I attempt to connect my computer to the personal account it says it has been connected but then I am unable to complete the sign in process via the app on my MacBook Pro. Without being able to sign in, I cannot access the files in my personal dropbox via Finder.
In each of the sections - Account, Notifications, and Sync the app recognizes I have a Personal Dropbox but will not complete the Sign In process to create the Dropbox folder on my Mac.
Please help, this is super frustrating
I click "Sign In"
I click "Connect"
The dreaded circle of doom
Thanks Megan, the number of devices attached to my account was the issue. I removed the old devices and was able to sign in with my Mac. I really appreciate your help!

Hi there. This is super frustating. And it also happened to me! I tried to contact Dropbox tech support through chat but they werent helping either. Any luck so far? Knowing that somebody else is on the same boat really calms me down. I will keep you posted if I find the solution!

Hey everyone, thanks for posting here today!
There are two major things we need to make sure of.
The first one, is to make sure your accounts are linked using these steps. However, it sounds like you've all done an amazing job at that, but I just want to make sure.
And the second, and most important thing here, is to keep in mind that a personal, Basic account has a 3-limit-device.
I'm suspecting that you can't connect to your account, due to that. Can you all check your account's settings online on your personal account, and check how many devices you have active at the moment?
Let me know, and we'll take it from there!

Hey carrietan, thanks for clarifying!
You mentioned that you tried contacting our Support team. Is it possible that you have a ticket number reference, in order for me to check the troubleshooting steps you've followed?

Sure. Ticket #23428269. I have also sent a screen recording via email to the customer service agent.

- carrietan2 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi Megan,I am writing to let you know that the problem is solved!
I decided to unlink and link my two devices (mobile phone and Macbook Air) for the nth time tonight, and suddenly the prompt worked and I could finally complete the sign in process via the Dropbox app in my laptop. Not sure what happened and how it was suddenly resolved but thank you for attending to my query. - Walter2 years ago
