Dropbox desktop installation fails on Windows 11.
The installer ran (twice), but nothing results afterwards. The Desktop program is nowhere to be found. No error codes.

Megan,
Deinstalled Dropbox Capture, since it's redundant with many competing apps and is going away.
Deinstalled Dropbox.
Restarted.
Ran the Desktop install again.
Still nothing at completion.
Is "the app" (little icon in the taskbar, which has been there literally FOR YEARS, the desktop version? I expected a real window to open up with Dropbox menus and functionality. Maybe my expectations are incorrect..is "Dropbox Desktop" really only the little popup that shows when I click on the taskbar icon, and then goes away if I click anywhere else on my screen? If so, all the blurbs you're putting out are misleading and I've wasted a lot of time.

10 months agoHey Geoff S.10!

This is the little icon that should open up your app and here is how you can access the app's preferences.
Do you see it visible on your taskbar?

I have the icon...always have...but there's no app, only a little pop-up that goes away when I click off it. Is that all there is? No actual app window that opens up? That's the crux of the issue here.

Hey Geoff S.10, that's indeed what you should be seeing.
If you click that little Dropbox icon, you should see a pop-up window with your activity, sync history and some options, like your initials/profile pic, a folder icon and a globe icon.
From your initials/profile pic, you should be able to go to the app's preferences, but other than that there's no actual program that opens when you open Dropbox.
Just your local Dropbox folder with your files.
I hope this clarifies things!
