Dropbox needs to update the required Fedora repository.

Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this.  This is just a heads up that Fedora Linux was updated earlier this week to 42 and so the Dropbox Fedora repository is now producing error messages as it's still pointing to 41.  The repository is at https://linux.dropbox.com/fedora.

    I just did a clean install of fedora workstation 42.

    I downloaded Dropbox for fedora from dropbox.com/install-linux

    The file opened software and i clicked install.

    Now I get following error when opening Dropbox:

    so far it seems like my files are syncing in the background but I can't open the app.

    The GNOME extension "AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support" says incompatible.

    Also Dropbox doesn't show up in Software under installed.

    Thanks

    I second the thanks to Dropbox for supporting Linux.  Dropbox has been fine for me on Linux for many years but I've noticed that the menu on the KDE system tray has become much more useful recently.

    Adding my thanks to Hannah as well as to 6zhx7u for the workaround. I had been using an upgrade to 42 from 41 (and from 40), where I did not see this issue. Today, after a clean install, the issue arose in Discover. The CLI did no better and more clearly exposed the repo issue, so I came here to find the answer I was looking for.

    It's also an opportunity to thank Dropbox for supporting Linux. That support is much appreciated.

    Thanks! I did consider editing the repo file as I thought that the 42 one is probably going to have the same contents as 41 for a while but, like you, I just disabled it and will wait until the 42 repo is created.

    A temporary workaround:

    Edit /etc/yum.repos.d/dropbox.repo

    Change the line

    baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/$releasever/
    to
    baseurl=http://linux.dropbox.com/fedora/41/

    Yeah, I had to disable the Dropbox repo so I can update. Hopefully this gets addressed soon.
