Try this command in Terminal:
sudo update_dyld_shared_cache
Run it and restart.
It fixed the issue for me.

Is there a "High Sierra" OS? My iMac is running macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6 and the Dropbox app is working fine here, but won't install on my MacBook, so no folders downloaded. It's just me and my two computers so, no IT department to call. This is the message I just sent to Support:
I am reluctant to change system commands just for this one app. Why name a file starting with a period when you know Apple is going to have a problem with it? I just tried searching for any other folders on my hard drive on the iMac desktop (purchased 08/17) that might start that way and here is the message that I got: <<Names that begin with a dot “.” are reserved for the system. If you decide to go ahead and use a name which begins with a dot the file will be hidden.>>

Dear all,
Thank you so much for advice from all of you. I have tried to type in commands in terminal and finally fixed the issue. Really appreciate all your efforts to let me have the solution. Now I can put my dropbox as one of the folders in sidebar and sync automatically.

I am also experiencing this problem with high sierra and dropbox not working together. When in click on the icon it never changes from saying "connecting" I have tried the options given in the comments and still no change.
Dropbox is used for the business and if this error is not fixed i will have to seek out a new provider.

I am having the same problem. Installed Dropbox on a brand new MacBook Pro and even if Dropbox shows the "syncing" symbol, no sync is taking place - no files appear in my Dropbox folder.
Any advice?

What version of High Sierra are you running, Zeipo? Did you update to 10.13.2 before installing Dropbox? I'm wondering if that is part of the problem for us.
While I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue - I'm really confused as to how this can be happening with such little information online about this problem. Very frustrating as I just need to start using my laptop for work.

Before I started installing any kind of software I updated the operating system to 10.13.2.

I am using the free version. I earned quite some GB since I am using the service already for some years. In a nutshell, I earned close to 20 GB and 54% are still available. On the mac I have at least 400GB available, so this shouldn't be the problem neither. On my MacMini, Dropbox is installed as well and there I don't have any issues. But obviously Dropbox was already installed before I upgraded to High Sierra and since I have no SSD in the MacMini the new file system of High Sierra wasn't applied.
- nonerpants8 years agoExplorer | Level 4I am also on the free version and was gifted 500gb of free space from someone who worked at Dropbox (in trade for work I did for them) - I really think this is an issue related to the latest High Sierra version 10.13.2 and the new apple file system - someone from Dropbox elevated the issue for me via support ticket and I'm crossing my fingers they're able to help fix it today. Sigh.

Hi there,
I have the problem that my dropbox is still downloading all documents, but doesn't upload any. We use dropbox for business in our company and actually I'm the only one, who has this problem (iMac 27" late 2012, High Sierra 10.13.3). On my MacBook (Sierra, not High Sierra) it works fine.
I tried everything, which was mentioned in this thread, but I got an error with your solution. I have two Dropbox Accounts (private and business) on the mac, there are name "Dropbox (Private)" and "Dropbox (SSE)". When I use the commands you wrote, I get errors "no file in that directory". When I change the path as mentioned in the screenshot attached (in German), I get an syntax error in the terminal: bash: syntax error near unexpected token `('
I would be very glad, if there is a solution for this. At the moment I have 300 files, which are in the queue for uploading and this is very disturbing for our business and especially for me. Thanks a lot in advance!

The first paragraph is part of an instruction set for an Advanced Reinstall, but the commands you’ve listed are from another procedure. The latter is part of an entirely different process, for fixing permissions on some of your files that may be set incorrectly. When our support team sends you these instructions, they are edited to match your specific case, if it is determined that there is a mismatch in your Dropbox folder path. This is something that our support team will handle, once they’ve had a chance to take a look at your account’s details.I hope I’ve made sense here :wink:

1) Stop the Dropbox desktop application (if needed)
2) Open your Terminal app (Located at /Applications/Utilities/Terminal)
3) Copy and paste the following lines into the Terminal, one at a time, and press RETURN after each one. PLEASE make sure you copy and paste these commands (don't type them by hand), as getting them wrong could cause some harm. You'll be prompted for your computer user's password (not your Dropbox password) after entering the first command. Keep in mind that the password field in the terminal will remain blank as you type your password. After you type it, just press ENTER. You'll know that these instructions complete normally once the initial line of text (called prompt) comes up again:
sudo chflags -R nouchg ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
sudo chown "$USER" "$HOME"
sudo chown -R "$USER" ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
sudo chmod -RN ~/.dropbox ~/Dropbox
chmod -R u+rw ~/Dropbox ~/.dropbox
Please note that once the prompt displays, the instruction completed the requested task, and is ready for the next command. If the command returns an error, or does not respond after an hour, you may want to try restarting your computer and try these steps again.

4) Restart Dropbox from Applications
Another possible cause of these issues would be local network sharing or folder redirection preferences setup in folders or files within your Dropbox. Similar effects can also happen when your Dropbox folder or its system files are located in a mounted network drive or a remote location (like roaming profiles) since this could cause Dropbox to not have constant access or permissions to operate in those locations. This is especially an issue if other people in the network could be accessing the same data. For these reasons, I'd suggest that you ensure that your setup does not include any of the above scenarios. You may need to reach out to IT if your computer is in a corporate environment to check any of them.
