Indexing all files at startup
16.january.2023 my dropbox would suddenly stop working and give a error message that dropbox would have to restart.
'Les mer i hjelpesenteret' -> Read more on dropox website.... There i have tried the sugested solutions but still the same issue.
I have tried re-installing and rebooting a couple of times.
Yesterday it worked after a reinstall and reboot. Shut down computer after dropbox finished syncing.
This morning at startup on the computer it is indexing, failing at that, then restarting, and the indexing starts over.

Hi!
Not that i know of. When i checked firewall settings i only saw one Dropbox, and it was not blocked.
Proxy and VPN settings is the same as fresh install, and never changed settings in Windows 10 regarding this.
Several other users on same network has it working.
They all use Windows11, so i updated to Windows 11 and it seems to work for now.
If it happens like before i will come back to this thread.
Thanks for fast response!

Update on issue.
After another restart of the computer im still getting the error message. When i click on restart, it restarts and is up and running within a couple of minutes, all files synced.
So it seems it throws a 'false' error message.

Hey alfge, thanks for letting us know about this.
May I ask if you have any security programs like antivirus or firewall running on your computer?
If so, can you temporarily disable them to see if things improve at all?
Let me know if you still get the same error!

Hi, I only have windows defender antivirus and firewall.
On firewall i can see Dropbox is allowed through.
Not sure how to check if dropox is allowed in antivirus, but i cant find any blocked programs.
On installing i allow it to do changes on my computer.
I am not confident enough in my IT skills to disable the firewall and antivirus.
Can it possibly solve the problem by uninstalling AND deleting local files before reinstall and sync?
Previously I only uninstalled and installed without deleting local files.

Before we attempt any other troubleshooting, do you have any proxy, VPN, firewall, or even ISP/router settings that could be restricting traffic to the following Dropbox domains?

Hello!
Same issue as before. The computer has almost been running since the last time, only restarting for updates right before i leave the office. Today i got the errormessages as before, then tried another restart of the computer. It starts indexing on startup and seems to stop/freeze at the number above. I only have about 440GB of data (150 000 files) localy. Any suggestions to solve this long term?

Hey alfge - sorry to hear you're still having this issue.
Could you please try fixing your hard-links and permissions as outlined here and let us know if the app gets stuck at the exact same number of files again?
Thanks!

I tried this and restarted the computer. Dropbox crashed once(With the same error message), but then managed to sync. I saw there was another step in the solution you linked to, i will try this when i get the chance.
