Installation of dropbox.desktop on my linux mint 23.01 failed
When I try to install the provided .deb package the installer fails because I do not have girl.2.gtk installed. But when I try to install it and/or search for it I can find no such reference.
Hopefully someone who is familiar with this know the full name of the required package and can respond accordingly.
Thanks
Thank you. I was able to install that package without issue. Too many versions "for an old guy!!!"

Hi BobMCT,
Hm... 🤔 I also have nothing like that, but Dropbox application is installed and works still. Can you clarify how exactly you're trying to install that .deb file and where you got query for that 'girl'? Or even better, try install in terminal using the command like:
sudo dpkg -i dropbox_2023.09.06_amd64.deb
If similar error appears, post the entire output - the command line and all following.
Good luck.

Thanks for responding.
I did use sudo dpkg -i (package name) and here is the response:
dependency problems prevent configuration of dropbox:
dropbox depends on libgtk-4-1 (>= 4.8.0); however:
Version of libgtk-4-1:amd64 on system is 4.6.9+ds-0ubuntu0.22.04.1.
dropbox depends on gir1.2-gtk-4.0 (>= 4.8.0); however:
Package gir1.2-gtk-4.0 is not installed.Because of my poor eyesight, even with my 32" monitor, I misread the pack and referenced "girl" instead of "gir1"
But it's still now installing properly.
I'll keep digging.
Thanks for you assist.

In such a case you need a bit older version (newer versions are incompatible):
sudo dpkg -i dropbox_2020.03.04_amd64.deb
Hope this helps. 😉
