iPod won't Connect to my Dropbox account.
Hello.
I have an iPod running iOS 12.5.8.
When I try to login to my account using the iOS app I get the following error,
"Unable to Connect to Dropbox There may be a problem with your iPod's internet connection".
There is no problem w/ my internet connection. I can connect to the internet fine.
When I try to login from my iPod using Google I get an 'invalid" email address error.
I know this email is correct b/c I can log in from my desktop.
This used to work fine but suddenly stopped working.
And yes I tried deleting and reloading the app and it still does not work.
I don't have cellular data options on this iPod.

The minimum requirement for Dropbox is iOS 16.7.10. That's likely why you can no longer connect using the Dropbox app on that device.

Hi BobbyP, as Rich pointed out, the Dropbox mobile app wouldn't be compatible for older OSes.
You would need to be running iOS 16.7.10 or higher in order to use the Dropbox mobile app.
If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

This is not the case. I have a second Ipod running iOS 12.5.8 and it runs the app fine.
I don't know what is different in the second iPod that allows Dropbox to work.

Its a quirk in the system. At some point it is going to stop working I'm afraid - its possible the system hasnt got around to disconnecting it, or, its not tried to update etc. yet, however, the information IS accurate and to work on an iPad you need 16.7.10 or higher now.

Yeah, same here, old ipad which cannot upgrade over 12.5.8. Worked fine until last week when suddenly, that same message. Sad :(

Well I experienced a similar problem, that started about a week ago on all older devices.
On some devices, the app stopped syncing new folders or files I recently added. My iPad running iOS 12.2 has problems followed by my iPhone running iOS 15.7.
Oddly enough I can access files without any problems through a older app called PDF Expert without any problems - old API, old Backend Interface probably.. Seems like dropbox deliberately kicking old apps, but not necessarily because the app is running into any issues.. it's man made, which makes it more pathetic and stupid..
When the service can't ask or check for any software version it can't block the connection.. but I might give them some more ideas to block old service APIs too.. try accessing either through the Apple File System Explorer ("Files-App") or another app service like PDF Expert..God I miss the time when people were still optimizing for compatibility and not deliberately making things harder and harder for people to use their old s***..
I might check on my even older iPhone running iOS 9.3.5 - the app never had the update reminder in it - maybe this one is still working, because it's not manipulated into breaking connection..
