However, lots of people do find them helpful - in fact one of the most common complaints on here is people who haven't been getting these emails and didn't realise it wasn't syncing and so lost data when a HDD crashed or reformatted and didn't check what had/hadnt sync'd etc.

    Dropbox should stop using spam tactics that users find offensive.

    It's not a spam tactic. You're overreaching. And while RE: is used mostly to mean reply or response, it also means regarding or in regards to, and when used while starting a conversation it's the latter that is typically being conferred. In other words, the email is in regards to the following topic.

    You're subscribed top a service and you're receiving a notification regarding the operating of that service as it pertains to your account. It's not spam.
