Re: Quitting the transfer window: "Your Files Are Ready To Send" window quits Dropbox on Mac

Thanks for that! It sounds expected that pressing Command Q quits the Dropbox app as a result, since it’s generally used to exit a program.

However, please correct me if I’m wrong, you mentioned that clicking on the red X button on the Transfer window, closes it normally, right?

Yes...I can click on the red X to close the window.

I don't recall in all of these years that command-q of the transfer window quits the entire Dropbox system which is running on the menu bar and in the background.  I'm just trying to figure out why it seems for many of us in Sequoia that Dropbox seems to not be open when we go to use it throughout the day.  This "discovery" that I made today I think MIGHT be why.  Also, command-w to "close" the transfer window does not do anything.  I'm looking for a way to close the Transfer window without having to manually click on the red X.  So that is what has brought me full circle to what I though was an "a-ha" moment.

I don’t think this has always been the case with the Transfer window.
why doesn’t command-w work with the transfer window?

Why should command-Q on a floating window quit an entire app that is running in the background and parked on the menu bar?   Also, when Dropbox is running, the Dropbox app icon on my dock does not indicate that the app is running   So I think Dropbox has some nonstandard aspects of always running in the background, which is great and necessary—but all the more reason why quitting the transfer window—which in some ways is a separate program from the core of Dropbox should not quit the app from running on the menu bar

also—as a long LONG time user- I’m not sure quitting the transfer window has always quit ALL of Dropbox

Hey Octave Music, thanks on the additional info on the behavior you're experiencing.

Can you also let us know which version of the Dropbox app you're using?

You can hover over the Dropbox icon in your menu bar to see that info.
