Reinstalled the Dropbox app and it wants to rename my Dropbox folder
Sadly, I had already downloaded another and have a problem -- instead of picking up my old dropbox folder, the installer wants to rename it. I'm not sure what to do now. except reboot in the middle of the installation process. Sounds fun, eh?

Yes, and got the next one almost immediately. Did you get that last one?
edited. Which button on the last one should I use? I don't want to rename the folder or put it somewhere else -- too many things point to files in dropbox. - Megan9 months ago

Hey muddleglum, on the first screenshot it looks like you had the option to merge content.
Did you try this, by any chance?

I'm now at the door . . .
Now what?

I'm now in another dialog box.
I'm going to try to click the Merge button, and hope.

Thanks for the screenshot muddleglum!
Essentially your path should be: C:\User\username and once you select that, your existing Dropbox folder should be there.
All that should happen is that the app will re-index any changes, instead of downloading all of your content from scratch.

I should add, "Browse for Folder," with my name selected.
On the other hand, I just realized that in the small print at the top, it says "A folder named "name" will be created inside the folder you select. So I would, if I click ok now, have a new folder C:Users/name/name/ created

"with the 7" etc.,
In the Task Manager is a list of running processes that can be closed rather violently.I'm now in the dialog, "Browse for Folder." I'm guessing that you want me to hit the OK button. Correct?

Hey muddleglum, sorry I lost you there.
Are you referring to the dialogue box that mentions "There's already a folder or file named Dropbox"? If so, can you click "Choose another location"?
You also mentioned the Dropbox icon with the 7 after it, but I'm not sure I can see this on the screenshots you've attached here. Can you clarify, please?

Megan, Please tell me the best way to get out of that dialog box. You will probably tell me to go to Task Manager. I'm guessing that I select that "Dropbox" icon with the (7) after it rather than one from the list of seven. Is that correct? (I might have missed one?)
