Two Dropbox folders after migration from old Mac to new
A couple of days after I did my migration I noticed on the new Mac there are two dropbox folders, the one that should be syncing with my other devices is called “DropBox personal” however, after the install a second folder of Dropbox contents was created in my user folder and that's the one connected to the cloud. How do I override this copy being selected for synchronization?
It's conceivable that another action might've contributed to this problem in so far as I was reminded by a dropbox prompt that I'm only entitled to share DropBox services with three devices. I'd revisit that page if I knew where it was on my DropBox account webpage.
In summary, there are two questions, 1) how do I correct the wrong dropbox folder being selected for synchronization? (I’ll eventually purge the dupe)
2) what account page would I go to to review the particulars of the three devices for synchronization? (as best I recall Legacy devices were in the list that are no longer being used)
Thanks in advance for any help.
Paul

Does the modification date change after performing a syncing process perhaps, Paul?
For example, does this happen when setting your files or folders to be available offline or online-only perhaps?

I don't have the dates in front of me, but at a certain point, I made sure to set the preference to make files available off-line and syncing happens dynamically. Several dozen inactive folders they got bulk changed to the same date all have the checkbox within a white circle, which on the help page is described this way "A circle with a green border and a green checkmark means that a file was opened (directly or with a third-party application) and synced." Which I really don't understand because the only way I work with any of these folders is on my new MacBook and I want them all to be local and available off-line so I'm not sure why any of them should be anything other than "A solid green circle with a white checkmark means your file is synced and available offline."

In that case, have you tried setting them all of your files to be available offline and see if the issue with the modification dates crops up again, Paul?

Setting all of my files to be available offline was something I did already. And thought it was a blanket preference that should've affected everything in the folder, so I'm not sure I follow your suggestion.

Hi Paul D.4, as this thread has progressed for some time, and that the issue seems to have changed, could you clarify exactly what issue you're experiencing at this moment, and require assistance with?

It's always been about DropBox assigning false modification dates to several dozen folders at a clip. The only thing that's changed is I'm not dwelling on the migration process which is water under the bridge and just concentrating on the behavior I just stated.
It would be useful to post a screen grab comparing folder dates on my old MacBook dropbox folder and the new, what do I need to enter besides the path to the image (in "Source") in question to inserted into this post? Also, I've never experienced a site that required me to enter the image dimensions and rename it, as the name of the file tells its own story.

In general, the modification dates of folders vary, according to this section of the article my colleague posted.
Currently, there isn't a method to keep the modification date of folders the same across all devices.

I'm in transit and will post screen grabs to illustrate. I'm talking about if I'm able to. To attach an image am I required to put in any more information other than the directory path? Last time I tried that did not seem to do the trick. (I wish I could do dragon drop or there's a button, like most other platforms to target a file in a directory)

Sorry it took a while for me to research and find that any image files I post necessarily have to come from the dropbox folder. Here's an AB comparison between the old MacBook that had the correct behavior, honoring actual modification dates and the same folder on the new MacBook, which bulk changes modification dates on folders that have not been used/hence not been modified.
I did some research about posting images and learned that they needed to be linked from within the dropbox folder, I moved the image files into my dropbox folder, copied the link and entered it in the appropriate box, but no image resulted in the preview, what could I be doing wrong? As an additional thing, I noticed that the dropbox icon such as the checkmark, etc., that used to appear next to files and folders in my MacBook dropbox folder are no longer there, I'm being told my files are up-to-date so don't know why I can't link to the aforementioned image files

I've tried everything I can think of to post an image, but I always get an empty box that would include the description if I entered it. Once a while back somehow I stumbled on the right way to insert an image, but everything I try is a dead end. I've tried to copy the dropbox link to the image both in my MacBook dropbox folder, as well as on the web interface (that I generally never use) I've tried converting the screen grab into a JPEG but nothing works. Thanks in advance for any help.
