Why are 7 versions of Dropbox.exe running on my Windows 11 computer?
I have a HP laptop running Dropbox on Windows 11 and I would like to know why there are seven versions of Dropbox.exe running on my laptop?

It's normal to have that many processes running for Dropbox. It's not an indication of a problem. Most of them use little to no CPU time and minimal memory.

Hey olddog76, thanks for joining us on the Dropbox Community.
Are all these Dropbox.exe actually running, or do they just exist in the application folder?
Would you mind sending over a screenshot of where you see this?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Hannah, sorry for the delay. I have been trying to take a screenshot and send it to you with Screenshot Captor, but due to my inability to understand these programs I seem to keep messing things up. I am no longer sure if what I was doing was right and I couldn't work out how to send it to you. These 7 dropbox.exe were all running in Process Explorer and that is what I was trying to capture and send. Thanks for any help, Olddog76.

Hi olddog76, the Dropbox desktop application runs several processes in the background in order for the app to work normally.
Other apps perform the same way, such as browsers. Are you experiencing any issues with the Dropbox app in particular?

Hi olddog76, happy Friday!
Have you by any chance tried restarting the app?
Also, I would like for you to locate your Dropbox icon. It would be on the task bar, next to your WiFi. Once you do this, could you hover your mouse there and let me know what the status and version of the Dropbox Desktop application?

Thanks for this update here!
Can you let us know if there was any difference after you restarted your computer?
And also can you try ending all these processes and then relaunching the Dropbox app, to see if there's any change in behavior?
