Why is the Dropbox app using over 700 MB of memory on my Mac computer?

Have been using Dropbox for years but lately my iMac is extremely slow. Checking the Activity Monitor from Apple, learned that Dropbox is using 747,9 MB of memory. What should be a normal value and...

Thanks for the updates, Rob F.14! It looks like your Dropbox app’s version is the beta one, and not the stable one (224.3.4654 instead of 223.4.4909), so I’d like to make sure that’s not what’s causing your computer’s memory to spike. 

What I want you to do next is go to this page and turn off early access (under the Preferences section). After that, please download the latest stable app version instead and let me know if you see any difference.

Got beta version from link in Dropbox webpage about 'Advanced Reinstall'

Early acces ('vroege toegang' in Dutch) was turned off already

Could open your link to 'latest stable app version', but unable to download the Standar
