Yes, your files would be safe. If you end up over your storage quota, syncing would stop but your existing files would remain in your account. You would have to be over your quota for an extended period of time (with multiple warning emails) before Dropbox started to remove files.

9 months agoTo add to what Rich said - make sure that you are receiving emails from Dropbox AND reading them (i.e. they arent in junk/clutter etc.) because if they DO remove files its permanent
