Cannot cancel my Dropbox subscription
I am not an idiot. Dropbox will NOT let me cancel my account. What is up with Dropbox?

2 years agoHi Luq S , I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with cancelling your subscription. Lets get this sorted together 💪. To cancel a subscription, all the steps and more to do so are here.
If your problem still persists, you can clear the cache and cookies to ensure a smooth connection. This can be easily done on by selecting Ctrl+Shift+Del on Windows and Command+Shift+Backspace on Mac.
Please let me know if you get your subscription cancelled 😺.

I cannot cancel my account. I worked with a previous employer and can no longer log in to that email. I've tried using the bot. I've tried calling the corporate office. What do I do? Getting access to the old email is not an option. This is utterly ridiculous.

Hi Grace44, let's jump right into this!
Have you tried to contact Dropbox Support directly for this?
You can visit the Support page while you're not signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums, and you'll see an option for Billing issues. It's best to use an Incognito or Private browsing session to make sure you're not signed in.
Once you do, feel free to send me the ticket number reference, in order for me to locate it on my end.
Let me know more!

How do I contact customer support directly? The only options provided at an AI chatbot (which was not helpful) and this community forum. What are you referring to with a ticket number reference?

You need to follow the steps that Megan provided and visit the Support page while you're NOT signed in to a Dropbox account, including these forums. This is why it's best to use an Incognito or private browsing window to ensure that you're not signed in to an account. When you're not signed in, the correct options will appear for you.

Once you submit the form requesting help you'll receive an email with a ticket number. When you have that, reply here with that number.

I'm having same issue. Same situation. I remember my old work email and password that I used to login but the 2FA is not helping as the email is now dead and no one has access to it. Getting charged for nothing now.

Contact your bank or credit card company and ask them to block the payment. That's how I stopped it. It was the only way I could. This should not be happening.

I blocked the card payments. I'm having this same conversation with someone at the moment (I think you could see the thread by clicking on my profile?)
It's become very evident that there is a fault with their IT/support system and the only way to get it sorted is by directly speaking to someone at dropbox (which is incredibly hard to do). Given how long this issue has been going on, going by the amount of people posting this question for literally years, with hardly any of them getting a resolution in the comment thread, it's safe to say this is a very large scale and well orchestrated scam.
