Confused about having a free account, but with quite a lot of extra space

I’ve had Dropbox for a long time. Now I’m confused. I have the Basic Plan. That tells me I have 2 GB of storage available. But when I look on my desktop computer, it says is have 6.5 GB of data store...

    Hey Kenterologist, thanks for joining our Community.

     

    It sounds like you're on a free account indeed, but had probably gained some extra space from a promotion.

     

    Promotional space is available for a limited amount of time, it usually lasts about 12 months. 

     

    If you received an email that your space will expire, that means that the promotion will expire. 

     

    You should be able to see what kind of promotion it is in the plan tab of your account settings.
