Did Dropbox change deletion policy after paid plan downgrade?

Dropbox changed deletion policy after paid plan expiry? Need clarification
I’m really concerned about what seems to be a major Dropbox policy change.
My Dropbox Plus 2 TB plan expire...

Megan I'm loyalty Dropbox user for more than 10 years and after all these years I'm getting the notification that my files will be deleted after 2 months ???? Cmon ! 😡😡😡

Dropbox changed it earlier this year, which isn't really unreasonable - lots of other services would delete as soon as you arent paying.

And just to clarify further, your account would indeed be kept for up to a year without any activity, after which it would be deleted in its entirety after several warnings, but that now assumes that the account is not over it's storage quota. That last part is what changed in late 2025, and accounts over quota are now subject to have files deleted to bring them back below their quota.
