Dropbox space - 102GB for free?

Hello,

I currently have a basic (unpaid) Dropbox account. I have a used it very little in the past and might need it more now, so I checked how much storage I have available. To my surprise it shows I have 102GB available? Is that showing by error or do I really have that much space with my free account?

Hi corill, thanks for messaging the Community!

Most likely, you've activated a promotional offer on your account, which should expire in six month or a year after it was added on. Usually 100 GB is given to new owners of a laptop device by certain manufacturers.

You can confirm the quota granted by checking this page.

If you have any further queries, feel free to message back.

    Hi Jay,

Yes, in the link it says "100GB bonus space earned", however it doesn't say anything about when it will expire. It would be really nice to know how long I have it until it expires?

Did you purchase a new laptop or Chromebook at some point and use the built in Dropbox offer? You should have 12 months from the date of purchase approximately for the offer to expire on your account.

Hi Jay. I also have 100G that came with the new laptop and will last for 6 months. What should I expect after 6 months? Can I keep just 102G? How much would it cost?

A Basic account usually has 2GB of space and you've earned another 100GB through a promotion. When that promotion expires your quota will drop back down to 2GB, at which point you'll either need to remove some files to stay below your quota or you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan. You can see a list of the plans available on this page.
