How much team space can members use? What happens to their existing files and their personal plan?

If the users you invite to your Dropbox team join with their existing Dropbox accounts, then their personal files will also be moved along and they should be able to locate them in their own personal team member folder. This folder is inaccessible by the rest of the team, unless they choose to share it of course (you can also read about this here).

As for the storage space, it can definitely be used up according to the needs of each team member and the overall team. However, if you ever need to restrict the amount of storage that can be used by a team member, you can do it this way.

Finally, users whose personal subscription has recently been renewed should indeed receive a pro-rated refund for the remainder of their billing cycle once they join your paid Dropbox team (this won’t happen though if they previously upgraded their Dropbox account via iTunes/Google Play, as the third-party app is handling their payments in this scenario, and they'll also need to cancel their personal plan via the third-party app platform).
