Can't change my Dropbox account email to a Gmail address

Hi,
I am trying to change me email to a gmail address, but the dialog when pressing 'Update email' sets a red ring around the 'new email' entry field and just has a small red cross below it with no error message and can't go any further.

Has anyone come across this (I am on the free tier)

Thanks, Ken

Is it possible that the Gmail address is currently being used by another Dropbox account already?

Have you attempted to login to Dropbox using that email, or tried to reset a password for it?

Hi StitchG, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Have you verified your current email address before changing the email?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi Jay,
I thought of this trying to work out what was happening. The email address I have used for a number of years was my work email and changing from that to my gmail was not working (same as shown here). I thought I'd change it to my email provided by my ISP's and see if that worked. It did - and I then had to verify that email (which is the '...@iinet.com.au' email you see here) which was via an email link sent by drop box, and all good.
As above, I then tried to change the email from the iiNet one to gmail and it still has this weird error situation.
Unfortunately, I will also lose access to this iiNet email and really need to get to my gmail, so very much appreciate your assistance in resolving this for me.
    Thanks

    Ken

Hmmm, I wouldn't have thought so.
OK, just checked and yes there is an account with this email (no idea how). I've done a password reset and logged on and it seems empty.
Should I delete this account and then change my email from the used account to this?

Yes, if there's nothing on that account and no other devices connected to the account, then go ahead and delete it. This would free up that email to let you change the email on that account.

All done now, thanks very much for your help (but you may want to report than an error message should have been displayed)

Have you checked to see if the new email address that you're trying to use already has a Dropbox account associated with it? Have you attempted to login to Dropbox using that email, or tried to reset a password for it?
